With a new album, Hypertalisman, and a concert at the legendary Salle Pleyel, 2024 has been a milestone year for a Normandy artist who is often described as an electro prodigy. To celebrate the Music Festival, let’s take another look at the no-holds-barred interview with Théo Le Vigoureux, aka Fakear!
He got thousands of Normans on the dancefloor at the Abbaye aux Dames in Caen on June 21st 2022 for the Music Festival. We got to interview him whilst he was here.
The Electro Prince
Théo Le Vigoureux, aka Fakear, has become a figurehead for French electro, a genre that has recently come back into fashion. The artist may be less “out there” nowadays, but his hypnotic and meditative musical world have made their mark and the young musician still has much to offer. Théo grew up in Caen in an artistic hotbed. His parents both teach music and encouraged him to explore different instruments as part of his musical journey. He used his expertise to put together a rock band with his friends at Lycée Malherbe in Caen. Some of his school friends went onto have solo careers too. One of them is Gabriel Legeleux, who you may know as Superpoze.

Théo then began studying music and gradually went into a solo career. It was made official in 2013 when he performed at Le Cärgo in Caen. He chose the alias Fakear to mark the occasion. The name is based on the term “fake ear”, a reference to the time his identity changed from his rock influences to his first steps into the electro world.
He released Talisman in 2023 followed by Hypertalisman in 2024: the album is more personal and introspective, it captures the artist going back to his roots and reconnecting with nature.
